How do we move and function? How do we perform such usual but intricate daily life activities with ease? Have such thoughts ever crossed your mind? Well for sure they did for me and today I am going to share with you a bit of what I have learnt about us. Human body comprises of number of muscles and bones; we need both to help us perform all kind of activities in our day to day life. Muscles are like small motors, working on levers i.e. bones causing them to move.
Any movement at any joint is caused with the help of muscles, without muscles there can be no movement in the body. You would remember getting hurt during your childhood or adulthood, any injury would compromise your ability to perform various activities in your life. We use our entire body in various activities like walking, bending over, picking something, pushing something etc. our body works like a well-coordinated cohesive unit with various muscles operating at multiple joints to accomplish above mentioned tasks. We appreciate the importance of such usual or common but very intricate activity when we suffer any injury.

The present model of exercise, compartmentalize the body into various movements or exercise regimes ready to make you hot, tired, sore and sweaty. Going to any health club or gym we generally see people performing endless cardio running, only walking, sitting on machines performing the movements; when the internet and some pseudo intellectuals may give you any random exercise regime. But is that optimal?
Majorly injuries occur while performing day to day life activities. E.g. an office going person, might pull a muscle in back bending over or picking an object from the ground, a pull at the back of the neck may happen when sudden brakes are applied in a car, lift of the building is not working hence you need to climb stairs to get to your office, many people even dislocate their shoulder while playing any sports; life encompasses many uncertainties’ hence one should be physically prepared or ready but how? Firstly, doing nothing is never the solution as it pushes the person more into degeneration making the matters worse. One should go to the gym to perform activities, which may bear a positive impact on life, occurring outside the gym premises. Going ahead that is what I have tried to address. The reasons why you should go to a gym, is to improve fitness levels, majorly certain components of Fitness which have direct impact on one’s physical performance.
These Components are independent of age or sex and applies to all humans with certain indication/contraindications.

- Cardio Respiratory Endurance – Running, Jogging, Cycling or any continuous activity performed for more than 3 minutes.
- Muscular Endurance – Endurance is to endure for a longer duration, endurance can be related to any continuous activity performed.
- Musculoskeletal Strength – Strength Based movements e.g. Squats, Deadlifts, OH Press etc.
- Flexibility – Appropriate Stretching
- Ideal Body Composition – Optimal Nutrition
Improvement in above Components will ensure that you are fit enough to perform any day to day life task. Hence, improvement in above components should be one’s focus when heading for a workout session. Workout session or going to a gym should be towards improving your fitness level not just getting tired or burning calories by performing any random act of movements, which unfortunately makes you tired and sweaty giving a pseudo feeling of a workout done.
Time is precious, invest it towards your improvement, when you decide to come to a gym, you are giving preference to gym over anything else hence choose wisely the activities you do at the gym floor. Let me leave you all with a question today. Are you doing your bit today, an Investment towards your better Future? No, it is not monetary investment; I am talking about the Investment towards your Fitness and Insurance for Future.
