Looking at the latest turn of events between India and Pakistan when all the artistic, trade and even sporting connections have been constrained; it is uncertain to resume the game of cricket between both the countries. It has been years since India and Pakistan hit the same pitch and the same time.
Saurav Ganguly, former captain of Indian men’s cricket team and the newly elected BCCI chief, addressed the issue of bilateral series between India and Pakistan. He said that cricket ties between the two is subject to approval the Prime Ministers of both sides.
During a media briefing on Tuesday in Kolkata, Ganguly was asked about the resumption of India-Pakistan bilateral ties and the former cricketer replied, “You have to ask this question to Modiji and Pakistani Prime Minister.”
“Of course! We have (to take permission), because international exposure (tours) are all through governments. So, we don’t have an answer to that question.” He said.
It has been seven years that India and Pakistan had participated in bilateral series. It was back in 2012 that India hosted Pakistan for a limited-overs series comprising two T20Is and three ODIs.
