Soumya Rao, A Working Mother - Lost 22Kgs in 8 Months!

Read out what inspired Soumya Rao to shift her career from IT industry to a trainer and nutritionist.

I am Soumya Rao a fitness trainer and nutritionist from Bangalore. My day begins at 5:00am, at 5:30 I go for morning walk for 30-40 minutes daily. Then my morning time spent in preparing breakfast and lunch box for my son and husband.  I hit the gym at 11:30 or 12:00 to do weights and abs. I workout for 1to 1.5 hours after that I keep rest of the day to focus on my clients. Post evening I spend time with my family and my son to do his home work.

I worked as HR Manager in IT industry. Then I worked as Auditor with my husband who is a CA. Now I work as nutritionist and fitness trainer handling clients online.

I feel my biggest achievement is losing more than 22kgs in 8 months, handling job and family. This made me very confident and I started preparing for beauty pageants and participated in Mrs. India Karnataka 2018 auditions.  To learn more about fitness and nutrition, I did my ACE course (American Council on Exercise). After that I am training people online and getting offers by different brands for endorsements.

For the management of time, I plan and prioritize the work a week ahead. I plan my meals, buy groceries, my work etc on weekends.

My decision of transformation got implemented only when I reached up to my highest weight i.e. more than 86kgs. And this decision was fruit full and I got the positive and great result.

My basic workout routine is cardio for 30 to 40 minutes as it is the best time to target the stored fat, at fasting state when insulin is at its base line. For my main session I club weights and cardio I do post weights and legs twice a week and all other muscles groups once a week, once I do HIIT circuit, and Sunday is my rest day.

In my basic diet I generally do carb cycling, low carbs and sometimes intermittent fasting to keep my fat levels in check.
