The origin of the word Yog is from the Sanskrit word Yuj, which means joining Y to Yoke, U to Unit and J to join. It's mean join together. It is believed that the origin of yoga is not from today, but from the period of Sabhyata and Puranic period, the evidence of which is present even today. The purpose of yoga is to overcome all kinds of physical problems, it is the world's oldest science, which originated in India. Yoga is very important in maintaining physical and mental health.

 It is believed that application of different forms of yoga date back to the civilizational period and the mythological period itself. There have been many such evidences in Indus Valley Civilization, which clearly shows that yoga is a gift of India.

Thankfully, the science supports that yoga and especially asana, is excellent at reducing stress. But remember that the physical practice is just one aspect of yoga. Meditation, breath-work, and auditory rituals, like chanting and sound baths, have also been shown to significantly lesson tension and relieve stress.
