We are living in a time where one switches on the TV, trying to get News Updates and all they see is how everyone is affected due to Covid. The people who are dying or are struggling to breathe, this is a tough time. Mental Health has always been a matter of discussion for many years now. Many studies have been conducted already to know the correlation of Mental Health with various other factors.
Today, I decided on writing this to reach out to everyone on this important topic. Wondering how our Mental Health can improve when we work on achieving great physical health! For many years, Physical Health and Mental Health have been treated as separate studies, two different things; it's only now we can see how both are interconnected. The person with good Mental Health will have good Physical Health - this statement is as true as if I say good Physical Health also shapes good Mental Health. For a very long time, the two had been disconnected in all researches and studies; it is now that all the healthcare workers have started studying the two together in a patient or the person suffering.

While the person might have a Physical Health issue, by studying Mental Health and its well-being, many things can get resolved, and vice versa. Citing an example we can say, Mrs.A just found out she has thyroid and it fluctuates too much. It is not only resulting in increasing her weight, but also she feels tired and exhausted throughout the day. Even when she is taking a daily dose of medicine suggested by the doctor, she still feels distressed. Looking at this issue only from a physical point of view might not give a complete picture.
By looking closely at her Mental Health, it will be easier to understand why her health is not improving even after taking medication. There can be Stress, Anxiety, Depression, or any negative atmosphere at home or her relationship with people. Mental Health affects a lot, especially in the case of recovery. Our Body and Mind are interconnected. In recent studies, it has been observed that there is a connection between stress leading to diseases like Cancer, Depression leading to diseases like Diabetes, and more.
Hence we can say that the two are fundamentally linked, which means it is important to understand and take care of both for quality of life. Physical Health is likely to get affected if Mental Health is not in check and vice versa is equally true. One needs to take the first step in understanding the two to reduce the chances of co-existing conditions. This would not only support one individual but even their family members, friends, and community around. A healthy lifestyle can play a big role in maintaining good Physical as well as Mental Health. Managing Stress, getting enough sleep, staying active, and eating clean are important actions one must take to ensure good Physical as well as Mental Health.
