Human body is a complex system synced with varied sensitivities where environment and ambience effects the state of mind and mindset wires the brain such that it controls the recovery, rest and sleep cycle of the body, which in turn increases its productivity. Let’s have a look how does this happen.


Light has its own importance in amplifying your Morning cortisol levels. But you might live somewhere or have a life that doesn't allow for adequate morning sun exposure. In this case, you can use a special alarm clock that stimulates sunrise, along a light therapy box that you can set on your desk.

It should go without a saying that this light technology shouldn't be used at night unless you are attempting to hack-shift work by trying to convince your body that It's the day when its night and vice versa. In that case, being exposed to light while working at night would be one way to mitigate the biological effects of shift-work on your body and regulate your body-clock accordingly.


You also now understand that the importance of limiting artificial light especially after sunset. In addition to keeping a TV out of your bedroom and keeping the laptop, tablet or e-reader or dimmed as low as possible , you can use the following to produce darkness.

Curtains:Use a Pitch dark Curtains to create a BAT CAVE Pitch Dark Experience.

Use blue light blockers on your computer screen.

If you really want to geek out, install low-blue lightbulbs in your home.

If you want to argue that our ancestors slept under the stars and therefore these darkness creating tools are necessary, I am totally willing to agree as long as you sleep near the sunset and get up at sunrise. I don't know about you, but I personally don't have that kind of discipline.


If you live in a noisy neighborhood or a train passes by your house then you may use the following products:-

  • Use a White noise app
  • Use the Dream Essential face mask with noise blocker plugs.

But sounds can go way above and beyond simple white noise. If you understand how sound and music affect your brain waves you can sue this knowledge to alter your mental and physical performance states with a laser like accuracy. It sounds geeky but I am going to show you how.

At first glance, it can be intimidating to try to see how brain works. But here are the basics. Your brain is made up of billions of cells. 

These are your neurons and they like the rest of the body use electrical activity in your brain to communicate with each other. When billions of neurons send electrical signals at the same time produces enormous amount of electrical activity in your brain, which can be measured with electroencephalography(EEG).

When you graph your brain activity it forms a wave like pattern because of its cyclic nature. Most of us spend our lives in a beta- Brain-waves state- Aroused, alert, concentrated, but also somewhat stressed. But when we put ourselves to brain wave alpha, we put ourselves in an ideal state to learn new information, perform new tasks, learn language, analyze complex situations, & even be in what sports psychologist calls 'the zone' which is the state of heightens focus and performance. This is partly because the slightly decreased electrical activity in the brain can lead to significant increase in feel good brain chemicals like endorphins, norepinephrine and dopamine.


I spend 90% of my time barefoot or wearing grounding shoes or sandals, sleeping with a grounding device under my mattress or wearing a bracelet. Grounding has been shown as one of the best sleep- & recovery hackingstrategy I know.

The Idea behind grounding or earthling, is that the surface of the earth emits a natural magnetic frequency that assists with our circadian rhythm, hormonal cycles and absorption of negative charged free electrons (which can mitigate oxidation stress etc.)

Dr jack Kruse, A brilliant Neurosurgeon, wrote a really good blog post about grounding called "EMF---Does Your Rolex Work? And has wealth of other excellent resources in EMF.

Since most of us spend a lot of time wearing shoes, indoors and not touching the ground or grass, we are missing the benefits of earth frequency. Using a mattress or mat wired to the earth through an outlet is one way to tap into it and became grounded.
