Muscle Hypertrophy is not so common word for common people. It is very rarely used. For a layman, it is difficult to understand the meaning of it. In simple words, muscle hypertrophy means muscle growth or it can also be considered as more  increase in muscle mass. There are two types of muscular hypertrophy, first is myofibrillar, which happens when there is an increase in myofibrils and other one is sarcoplasmic, which happens with an increase in muscle glycogen storage. The myofibril is also known as muscle fibril, it is responsible for binding water and encapsulating fats. On other hand sarcoplasmic hypertrophy refers to the increase in sarcoplasmic fluid. They have tendency to make muscles appear larger.

How strength training causes muscle hypertrophy

Strength training is one of the best ways to help you all in building peaked muscles. Moreover, it can help you in gaining muscle in both myofibrillar and sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. The vigorous strength training leads to the damage in muscle fibers but then your body eventually recovers itself. Which means your body repairs your damaged muscles itself without any external help. Repeatedly challenging your body, leads to making your muscles adaptable to this and it helps in growing your muscles in strength and size phenomenally.

The ultimate goal of strength training is to induce muscle hypertrophy by straining the muscles. There are many ways in which you can do the strength training but best four of them are:

  1. Weight lifting
  2. Bodyweight exercises like pushups and pullups
  3. Use of resistance bands
  4. Use of weight machines

There are no shortcuts to gaining muscles and when you are considering muscle hypertrophy, it becomes very crucial for you to do regular strength training by taking proper intervals. According to research, you should do strength training twice a week at least. But it varies from person to person as every other person has a different built. That is why it is important for every individual to understand their respective body and requirements to get better results from strength training for muscle hypertrophy. One most important point to remember for muscle hypertrophy is that you must come out of your comfort zone and start exercising and putting extra efforts into your training, only then you can expect the desired results.

When you do consistent strength training, it will definitely result in gain of strength and size of your muscle. The noticeable results will only come out with balanced diet and few other healthy habits which means it will make your lifestyle better as well. You have to learn to push yourself off your limits here and inculcate an athlete's discipline.
