All the cricket lovers and cricketers across the world mourn the sudden and unexpected demise of Australian Cricketer Shane Warne on Friday.
Shane Warne the iconic Australian cricketer and legendary leg spin bowler passed away on Friday at age of 52. The possible reason for his sudden demise is said to be ‘suspected heart attack’.
Warne’s management released a brief statement in the early hours of Saturday (AEDT), that he passed away at Koh Samui, Thailand, of suspected heart attack, according to Fox Cricket.
He was in his villa in Thailand. Shane's family tries to take best medical staff but, that staff could not save him. This was an unexpected shocking turn of fate for both family and staff. He was found unresponsive and couldn’t be revived despite their efforts.
After Shane’s death, his family said that they need some privacy time now. They will keep giving further details as and when required.
Less than 24 hours earlier, Warne paid his tributes to the passing away of another Australian legendary cricketer Rod Marsh. “He was a legend of our great game and an inspiration to so many young boys and girls. Rod cared deeply about cricket and gave so much – especially to Australia and England players,” Warne said.
Since 1992, the time Shane first made his debut in the world of international cricket, he played 145 tests for Australia and picked up whopping 708 wickets. In his 194 ODI appearances, Warne pared 293 scalps.
Shane was a team member in Australia’s world cup innings in 1999 and that match was won by Australia. Also, other Ashes-winning sides between 1993 and 2003.
Before retiring from all international cricket, he played in the Indian Premiere League in 2013, leading Rajasthan Royals. Under Shane Warne, Rajasthan Royals won its first Indian Premiere League (IPL) in the first edition of the league itself. He played other 20-20 competitions before retiring from all international cricket in 2013 but continued to be involved in the game as a broadcaster.
After gaining his due fame and retiring from the sport, he famously called many iconic moments in the game for various networks including Sky Sports, Fox Sports, Star Sports and many more.
Warne was named one of the Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1994 and was the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World in 1997. In 2012, he was inducted into the Cricket Hall of Fame by Cricket Australia and was inducted into ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2013. He played domestic cricket for his home state Victoria and English county cricket for Hampshire.
After hearing the news of Shane's demise, many cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Adam Gilchrist expressed their grief on Twitter and condoled the loss of cricket with his passing away, in the most touching manner as they seemed to be at a loss of words at this sudden grief denoting life’s unpredictability.
