Sangram Classic: First Indian Bodybuilding Show Named After Renowned Athlete

Sangram Classic, the first Indian bodybuilding show named after renowned athlete and bodybuilding inspiration Sangram Chougule was held on January 6, 2019 (Sunday) at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi. The Show was backed by an established equipment business house – BodiScience and its Founder Neha Batra Kaura and Co-Founder Darpan Kaura has been an essential part of Sangram Classic founding team. Founding team also has Mr. Tilak Raj Malik who played a key role in organizing the show. This might be the first time again when government representatives and political heads were seen as honorable guests on the bodybuilding stage. List of special guests included dignitaries like Smt. Shieila Dixit, Sri Manoj Tiwari, Shri Shakeel Ahmed, popular singer Jasbir Jassi, Sri Rajendra Pal Gautam and Sri Subhash Batra. Dronacharya awardee and an ace powerlifting coach Bhupender Dhawan was also among special dignitaries in the show.

The crowd was amazed by Ranjeet Singh Ricky who powered up the stage as a guest poser. The esteemed judges were Mr. Raghunandan, Deepika Chowdhury, Gaurav Taneja, Vipin Peter and Yashmeen Chauhan.  The competition was a huge success due to massive participation by around 400 athletes. This was because of affordable participation fee plus free participation for differently abled.

The format of the show provided apt exposure to all the participating athletes and winning athletes walked away with the prize money worth 40 lacs. Apart from this special a year-long supplementation support has also been promised by the sponsoring brands to the deserving winners. Each category’s winner will also get to do a professional photo-shoot with Indian bodybuilding icon Sangran Chougule himself.

The competing categories in Sangram Classic were Men’s Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique, Junior Bodybuilding, Female Bikini, Female Figure and Differently Abled Bodybuilding. Sangram Classic is a platform which is of great benefit to the emerging athletes and it will certainly help them gain the due recognition for all the sincere efforts they have put in so far.

Sangram Classic 2019 Result-Overview

Since Sangram Classic had huge participation, the winners listed here have indeed done a commendable job and are worth nation’s applaud along with the prize money and winning perks.

Female Figure champion is Alfiya Shaikh and runners up are Anvita Agarwal (second position) and Priyanka Wansh (third position) while Female Bikini is taken up by Navneet Kaur, the runners up are Urvashi (second position) and Neera Pal (third position).

Men Physique (above 5.7 ft) winner is Lovish Wahi, Gurpreet Singh stood second and Aman Khatkar stood third. In Men Physique (below 5.7 ft), winner is Mohd. Saud Khan while runners up are Gobindo Nath (second position) and Sumit Das (third position).

Physically challenged or differently abled bodybuilding category, Deepak Jain stood first, Adarsh Haarish stood second and Sameer stood third.

Men’s Bodybuilding (above 85kg) title winner is Ravi Kumar while runners up are Salman Qurishi (second position) and Sumit Gulia (third position). Men’s Bodybuilding (75 to 85kg) winner is Amit Dahiya while second is Rinku and third is Jitender Kumar Arora. Men’s Bodybuilding (up to 75kg) has Sarvesh Dubey as winner, Vicky Sonkar is second and Shahnawaz Ali is third.

Men’s Bodybuilding (60 to 70kg) winner is Narender Yadav Bas, second is Deep Kalita and third is Raujit Singh. Men’s Bodybuilding (up to 60kg) winner is MH. Saud Khan, second is Ramesh Kumar and third is Sunny Maiti. Men’s Bodybuilding (up to 55kg) winner is Vicky Chawriya while runner up are Arun Kumar (second position) and Pankaj Kumar (third position). Jr. Men’s Bodybuilding winner is Narender Yadav, second is Mithun Sakia and third is Lalit Kumar.
