What happens when whole day becomes a goose-bumps experience filled with inspiration – A day in life of Padma Shri Deepa Malik! The steel woman and an avid Indian sports athlete engaged into a candid conversation with bodyandstrength.com in the video coverage and also, worked out to show how she trains differently to bring out the best in her with the help of her trainers.

Bodyandstrength.com connected to India’s first woman paralympian silver medalist, Padma Shri Deepa Malik. Her humbling voice greeted us first on phone when we reached out to her on phone. She has left many hurdles behind and has faced many challenges to be what she is today – Pure Inspiration. Bodyandstrength.com’s very first interaction with her gave an impression that they talked to a person who respects everyone and walks that extra mile to do what she believes in.

Deepa Malik told the team that she comes from an army family and her husband is an army official. Her struggle dates back to the time when her husband was raging a war at Kargil and here, she was fighting with spinal tumor. She underwent 3 spinal surgeries and got 183 stitches. Being a mother of two wonderful daughters, it was imperative for her to be an example in front of them and not to give up in any situation. Her determination, hardwork and grit made her change whole of her routine and she started following regular workout and exercise routine to gain more strength and chase her ambition of being an athlete.

She has won medals in swimming, does motor sport rallies and had brought home international accolades in shot-put, javeline throw and discus throw. She was conferred with Arjuna Award in 2012, which is considered to be the highest laurel for the Indian sports community. She became a Padma Shri in 2017. She shared how she trains for her sport and how she carries out her workouts to support her training further. She thanks everyone who helped her in her journey and reminisces about her parents who inculcated the zeal of a fighter inside her.

Bodyandstrength.com wishes Deepa Malik all the very best on the behalf of the nation and wishes to tell her that we all are proud of her.
